What is OneAnagram?

OneAnagram is a free, fast anagram solver and word finder. Enter any set of letters and it instantly shows you every valid English word you can make from them - grouped by word length so the results are easy to scan.

It works great for word games like Scrabble, Words with Friends, Wordle, and crossword puzzles, or just for satisfying that nagging feeling that there must be a word hiding in those letters - a feeling with a surprisingly long history.

How it works

Everything runs in your browser - there's no server processing your input. When you search, OneAnagram loads the relevant slice of its 170,000+ word dictionary and checks each word against your letters using character frequency maps, which is far faster than generating permutations. The word list is ENABLE, a public-domain dictionary built specifically for word games, so short, game-legal words like "aa" or "jo" are included alongside everyday vocabulary.

The exact length only mode filters results down to words that use every letter you entered - useful when you want true anagrams rather than all subsets.

Use ? in your letters as a blank tile - it stands in for any letter, just like a blank in Scrabble or Words with Friends. Each result also shows its Scrabble point value (blanks score 0, same as the real game), and you can sort results by score instead of alphabetically.

Every result is click-to-copy, there's a "Copy all" button for the whole list, and the page URL updates as you search - so you can bookmark or share a link straight to a specific set of results.

Click the next to any result to look up its definition.

Open Filter by pattern under the search box to narrow results further - starts with, contains, or ends with a given set of letters. It combines with everything else, including exact-length mode and blanks.

Click the icon in the top corner to switch the color theme - it cycles between auto (matches your system), light, and dark. Your choice is remembered for next time.

Privacy

OneAnagram doesn't transmit anything you type to a server - all word-finding happens locally in your browser. Your recent and favorited searches and your theme choice are saved only in your browser's local storage, and a service worker caches the app for offline use. The one exception is clicking to look up a definition, which sends just that word to a third-party dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev).
